Empowering Local Producers with the SANDIDA Collective Label

On July 27, 2023, the newly created collective brand SANDIDA was officially launched in Ghardimaou and Jendouba, Tunisia. This brand represents a significant milestone for the local producers’ association (APROG), enabling them to better position their products in the market and enhance their economic prospects.
APROG members, who produce honey, honey-derived products, essential oils, soaps, and other local goods in the mountainous region of Ghardimaou, now have a powerful tool to distinguish their products. The SANDIDA brand ensures quality, authenticity, and fosters a shared identity among the producers.
The creation of SANDIDA is part of a broader project under the WIPO Development Agenda, implemented in Tunisia in collaboration with the National Institute of Standardization and Industrial Property of Tunisia (INNORPI). This initiative aims to empower local communities by facilitating their use of intellectual property tools like collective brands, thus enabling them to access new markets and improve their livelihoods.
Since the project’s launch in January 2021, ACT Consult expert Wafa Ben Hamida has worked closely with APROG to help its members fully benefit from the collective brand. This effort included designing a unique logo for SANDIDA, which was unveiled during the launch ceremony.
SANDIDA stands as a symbol of the resilience and creativity of the Ghardimaou and Jendouba communities. It is more than just a label; it represents the producers’ commitment to quality and the preservation of their local heritage.
Through this initiative, SANDIDA is poised to drive economic growth and foster sustainable development in the region. The brand’s future holds promising opportunities for expansion and increased recognition, both nationally and internationally.
